The conscious mind acts as a filter to the sub conscious mind. As we have seen, any change in our life has to be done through reprogramming the sub conscious mind.
However, as the sub conscious mind cannot be approached directly, we have to use methods in which we bypass the sub conscious mind. This is where hypnosis and self hypnosis come in.
The sub conscious mind is best approached when we are relaxed. Hypnosis helps us relax. Anyone can relax using the following method. The process is as follows:
Loosen your clothes and lie down on a bed or in a comfortable chair. Your hands and legs must be completely free.
Don’t cross your hands or legs and don’t lay them on each other. Both hands should lie on either side of the body.
Now close your eyes and start deep breathing. After seven or eight deep breaths, slowly start repeating the following self hypnosis script to yourself. But first you will have to memorize the script or have someone read it to you or, best of all, record it on a tape and play back the tape.
The script is short and you can easily memorize it. When you repeat the script, the speed should be slow and speak in your mind. Here is the self hypnosis script.
I am slowly going into a state of deep relaxation. Slowly and surely, my entire body and mind are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing. I am going deeper and deeper and deeper, into a state of deep relaxation. Each and every muscle of my body is now relaxing. Everything is so peaceful and quiet.
One, the muscles of my face are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Two, the muscles of my neck are slowly loosening and are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Three, the muscles of my shoulders are losing their stiffness and are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Four, both my hands are totally free and their muscles and are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Five, the muscles of my chest are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Six, the muscles of my back and lower back are loosening and are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Seven, the muscles of my stomach are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Eight, the muscles of my buttocks are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Nine, the muscles of my thighs are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
Ten, the muscles of my lower legs are relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.
I am now in a state of deep relaxation, going still deeper and deeper and deeper. My whole body, from the top of the head to the toes of my legs, is totally relaxed. Deeper and deeper, feeling better and better, quieter and quieter.
The last paragraph should be repeated again and again till you feel you are in the desired state of relaxation.
Once you are in the desired state of relaxation, repeat your favorite affirmations. Select only two or three affirmations at a time and repeat each affirmation 15-20 times. Simultaneously, visualize the end result you desire.
For example, if you are trying to lose weight, select two or three affirmations and when repeating them, visualize a slimmer you. See yourself standing on a weighing scale and the scale showing your desired weight. The longer you hold the picture of the end result in your mind, the faster will you approach the desired result.
If you have recorded your self hypnosis induction on a tape, you will require to leave a blank space of about 15 minutes in the tape.
Once you are finished with the affirmations and visualization, you can either come out of the relaxed state or drift off to sleep. When you awaken, you will be fresh and energized.
To come out of the relaxed state, simply repeat the following instructions:
I will now come out of the state, on the count of three, feeling refreshed and relaxed.
One, I am coming out of the state, totally fresh.
Two, I am now opening my eyes, fully energized.
Three, I am now in my normal conscious state, nearer my goal.
